QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Before you begin.

A few things people often wonder. If your question isn't here, we'd be glad to answer it directly.

Is counseling done in person or virtually? +

All of our counseling is offered virtually, over secure video. This lets us match you with the right counselor from our collective regardless of where you live, and meet on a rhythm that fits your life.

Is The Rest Initiative a faith-based organization? +

Yes. We are a faith-informed organization, which means our care is grounded in biblical truth and Christian community. That said, our counselors are also clinical professionals — so faith and evidence-based practice work together, not in tension. Our counseling is considered pastoral counseling and operates within the guidelines outlined in our intake paperwork and disclosure agreements. As such, we are unable to provide clinical diagnoses or submit claims for insurance reimbursement. We encourage clients to review our disclosure agreements carefully before beginning care.

What's the difference between TRI Partnerships and the Counseling Collective? +

TRI Partnerships serves organizations — churches, ministries, and nonprofits — through proactive, ongoing wellness structures, leadership development, and staff care. The Counseling Collective serves individuals, couples, and families through virtual counseling. Some people access both.

How do I get matched with a counselor? +

Once you complete our intake form and tell us a little about what you're looking for, we'll carefully review your information and send you a few counselor options. We consider your needs, availability, preferences, and unique story to help connect you with someone who feels like the right fit.

Is everything confidential? +

Yes. Everything you share with us — through the contact form, in sessions, and throughout our relationship — is held in full confidence. Our counselors follow all applicable ethical and legal standards for confidentiality.

Do you help in a crisis? +

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are in immediate danger, please call 911 or contact your local emergency services. We are not a crisis hotline or emergency mental health service.

If you or your organization is navigating a difficult season but are not in immediate crisis, we're here to help. Reach out to us, and we'll respond within two business days to help determine the best next steps.

What does a session cost? +

Counseling Collective sessions are $125–$165 per 60-minute session, based on the counselor's experience and credentials. Some counselors offer reduced rates on a limited basis — ask us if cost is a concern. TRI Partnership pricing is customized based on your organization's size and the services you select. Reach out and we'll put together a proposal that fits your context.
